Don Brown said some interesting things about the cornerback battle for Michigan football and here’s a breakdown of the depth chart.

Don Brown, the defensive coordinator of Michigan football is a good interview and on Monday, Brown revealed some key things about the defensive depth chart.

The Wolverines DC was speaking with former Michigan standout Jon Jansen on “Inside Michigan Football Radio” when he addressed the secondary and revealed a new name to pay attention to.

That’s Gemon Green, who has sort of gone overlooked in this cornerback battle, however, on Monday, Brown declared Green the leader in the clubhouse, along with Vincent Gray, who is clearly the Wolverines No. 1 corner.

Green, who is a redshirt sophomore, played some on special teams a year ago for Michigan football. But now, the 6-foot-2 defender could be in line for a starting role. Here’s more of what Brown said about Green (Via MLive):

"“Gemon Green’s really played well. He’s a guy that’s been with us for a period of time. Always had the athletic ability. Conceptually, he’s kind of put it all together so we feel really good about him.”"

With Ambry Thomas opted out, the Wolverines are without their top corner from a year ago. Gray saw plenty of action last year as the third corner and is poised to take over a full-time role.

The question is what happens opposite Gray? There has been talk about Daxton Hill playing more corner this season after spending a lot of time at the nickel spot.

Other youngsters such as DJ Turner and Jalen Perry are also in the mix, as are freshman Andre Seldon and Darion Green-Warren. And following Brown’s update, here are some thoughts about the cornerback battle as we are 17 days away from the opener.
