Domani Jackson, who is one of the top overall recruits in the 2022 class is one of Michigan football’s top targets and he’s trending to USC. But it’s not done yet.

When it comes to the 2022 recruiting class, no recruiting target is higher on the board for Michigan football than elite corner Domani Jackson.

Jackson is the top-ranked cornerback in the 2022 class according to the 247 composite rankings and he’s also third overall. Jackson is 6-foot-1, 185 pounds out of Santa Ana, California and he plays at powerhouse Mater Dei.

Despite being in California, Jackson’s dad is a big Michigan fan and there are connections to the Wolverines. Plus, the coaching staff has been working hard on Jackson and continues to as Mike Zordich has been in consistent contact with the elite corner.

Yet, in the past week, Jackson has received multiple crystal ball projections to USC. Jackson had a pick to USC from Steve Wiltfong which came in April of 2019. But two USC insiders are now projecting Jackson to USC too.

However, in his recent recruiting update for Rivals, EJ Holland said ($) the Wolverines are still in good shape. Here’s part of what he wrote on Jackson:

"“He is keeping in weekly communication with cornerbacks coach Michael Zordich and is planning to see Ann Arbor as soon as the dead period comes to an end. I still feel like Ohio State and Clemson are major threats, but I’m starting to hear more about Texas in this recruitment. USC is going all out for Jackson, and there seems to be some confidence there as well.”"

Holland said he believes this recruitment will be decided when visits open up and Jackson has been consistent in saying that he wants to visit Michigan.

Just like with another elite 2022 corner, Will Johnson, who is from the state of Michigan, Ohio State is going to be a top contender. The Wolverines seem to have a better shot with Jackson, even though he’s out West. The crystal balls are concerning but we know those can change.

Michigan making a move on a 2022 quarterback?

Recently, we talked about how Florida State’s struggles on the field could help others on the recruiting trail and one U-M target in 2021, Omarion Cooper, a four-star corner comes to mind.

Michigan football has been looking to add a second cornerback to the 2021 class and has been actively trying to flip him. And now, the Seminoles could be hurt in another recruitment due to their poor play of late and that’s with four-star QB Nicco Marchiol.

At one time, Michigan seemed to be in the driver’s seat for Marchiol and U-M even had some crystal ball projections for the QB out of Arizona, who ranks sixth at his position.

Currently, Florida State has four crystal ball projections for the signal caller, however, according to Holland ($), the Wolverines have been making a renewed push.

"“Michigan was the early favorite for Marchiol before things went a little cold. Michigan has been in constant contact with Marchiol as of late, and he has a longstanding relationship with position coach Ben McDaniels.”"

The quarterback board for Michigan in 2022 is still getting definied. MJ Morris and Maalik Murphy are two of the top targets, along with Gavin Wimsatt but Marchiol is another name to watch and if he sours on Florida State, the Wolverines could be there to take advantage.
