Former Michigan football players stood out again in Week 2 of the NFL season, including second-year defensive end Chase Winovich.

It’s not unusual to see former Michigan football players standing out on Sundays, especially when one of the alums is the greatest quarterback of all time in Tom Brady.

And for his part, Brady was stellar again on Sunday. Following his Week 1 loss and the poor performance at New Orleans, Brady and the Bucs have turned things around.

On the road in Denver, Brady completed 25-of-38 passes for 297 yards and three touchdown passes in a 28-10 win for the Bucs, who are now 2-1 on the season.

Yet, another former Michigan football player also made an eye-popping play for Brady’s old team, the New England Patriots.

Last week, Chase Winovich made some headlines with a big hit on Carlos Hyde and this week, Chase was at it again, notching a sack and a forced fumble against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Of course, seeing Winovich beat an offensive tackle on the edge, get to the quarterback and force a fumble isn’t anything new, but it’s still awesome to see him do it in the league. Last season, he had 5.5 sacks for the Patriots and his sack on Carr gives him 1.5 already this season.

Another former Wolverine brings down Carlos Hyde

Last week, former Ohio State Buckeye took a huge shot from Winovich, which certainly causes Michigan fans some delight. But this week, another former Wolverine made a big play in Seattle, however, this time, it was for the Seahawks, not against them.

Defensive tackle Bryan Mone, who played with the Wolverines through the 2018 season, worked his way into the league after going undrafted and he tackled former Ohio State running back in the end zone for a safety as Zeke Elliot was brought down by Mone for two points.

Certainly, seeing former Wolverines tackle Buckeyes doesn’t change any previous defeats, but it feels good all the same.
