Running Back

Running back may be the most loaded position group on the entire Michigan football team this season. With a running back room that includes Zach Charbonnet, Hassan Haskins, Chris Evans, and Blake Corum, it’s difficult to try to decipher how the carries will be split.

Charbonnet should be the guy who gets the most carries out of this group. As a true freshman a season ago, Charbonnet rushed for 726 yards on five yards per attempt. Those are staggering numbers for a true freshman back in a brand new offense.

Behind him, expect Chris Evans to get a good amount of carries and also play all over the field. Evans can hurt opponents in both the run and the pass game so his return will be big.

Hassan Haskins certainly had a nice season last year as well rushing for over 600 yards while being the featured back in the offense at times. Haskins and Evans will be a nice combo of speed and power behind the starter Charbonnet.

He will only be a freshman but don’t sleep on Blake Corum to make an impact for Michigan football this season. He has a college ready body and was one of the most underrated guys in last year’s recruiting class.

Even if he doesn’t quite crack the rotation, learning behind the likes of Charbonnet and Evans will be crucial for his development. Ben Mason will get some carries out of the backfield this year and will be Michigan’s starting fullback when needed.
