It took longer than expected but the Big Ten conference is back in the fold for a somewhat normal fall season for Michigan football.

On the day of August 11, 2020 the Big Ten ripped the hearts out of all their loyal fans when they postponed its football season until presumably 2021. Nearly a month later they reversed course and absolutely saved face as they can now have a schedule that falls in line with the rest of the schools that are playing this fall.

Its not going to be a regular 12 game schedule like in the past for Michigan football and others, but anything at this point will gladly be taken.

The second revised schedule will be out soon enough and all the details should be included along with it. This will truly go down as one of the most important decisions in the conference’s storied history.

The backlash of totally skipping the year was to much in the end for the chancellors and presidents to ignore.

Constant reminders of how the game could be played in a safe manner were clear to see across the sport. Even the endless words to forge onward across the social media platforms helped this movement succeed.

Now that it can proceed as planned, the virus still has to be taken seriously and rules must be followed in order for it to last the full go.

Positive tests are still going to happen and the results of how people act towards those findings will be the outlier of how things progress for the entire conference.

As far as Michigan football stands, the Wolverines are likely to be without some key starters when the campaign resumes. Jalen Mayfield and Ambry Thomas have already opted out, while others are considering doing the same with the new happenings occurring.

Slowly things are being confirmed as of the day flies by, so expect lots more news to change in the blink of an eye.

That attention also turns to the previously heated quarterback battle once again. Joe Milton has won the job by default because Dylan McCaffrey is opting out.

It certainly puts a damper of a highly publicized debate throughout the offseason. Without hesitation Joe Milton now earns the privilege of calling himself the staring quarterback of the Michigan Wolverines and will have the weight of the world on his back regardless.

With all that being said, today is a day to rejoice mightily because fall Saturdays have returned in fashion.

Fans can worship and worry over their respective teams again beginning on a chilly October afternoon. It may not be the perfect scenario that we all had hoped for, but its one that we certainly cannot take for granted ever again as fall football is officially back where it belongs.
