EJ Holland of Rivals is the first expert of likely many to flip their picks from Michigan football to Boston College in the coming days.

For the second time in a month, the recruitment of a highly-touted offensive lineman appears to be going in the wrong direction for Michigan football.

On Aug. 8, Rocco Spindler, a top-100 recruit from the state of Michigan chose Notre Dame and now, it looks like Drew Kendall, the top-10 guard in the 247 composite is going to Boston College.

For Michigan football, the writing has kind of been on the wall. If Kendall was going to commit, he would have done so pretty quickly after Spindler, if that was the only issue.

It’s clearly not and now Michigan expert EJ Holland has flipped his pick ($) from Michigan to Boston College. Here’s what he wrote:

"“My confidence in Drew Kendall has gone way down. I think things hit a breaking point today, and I have gone ahead and switched my FutureCast pick from U-M to Boston College.”"

Since we found out that Kendall was going to make his decision this week, it felt like the Eagles had the momentum and that’s why I didn’t predict Kendall to Michigan in my latest projections for 2021. He’s had months to pick Michigan and just can’t bring himself to do it.

The good news is that according to Holland, Michigan should have a legit chance of getting Noah Josey, a three-star offensive guard according to the 247 composite rankings.

Josey has been in contact with the Wolverines and while Georiga may have a couple of crystal ball projections, the Bulldogs don’t seem to be pushing very hard according to Holland ($).

"“Ed Warinner has a preexisting relationship with Josey, and like I said, he’s been to campus in the past. Georgia is considered the favorite, but I’m not sure how hard UGA is pushing. In fact, if Michigan does go all in on Josey, I could easily see him ending up in this class.”"

Josey is ranked 403rd overall in the 247 composite rankings and the 6-foot-5, 280-pound prospect is ranked as the No. 22 offensive guard in the 2021 class.

Missing on Kendall would be disappointing, but the Wolverines already have four solid O-line recruits in the fold and even Josey wouldn’t be all that necessary.

But it seems like a winnable recruitment and if Michigan football wants another offensive lineman in 2021, Josey seems like the best chance.
