Trevor Keels and Harrison Ingram will be superstars in college if they live up to their ranking. Michigan basketball is still being considered as their next destination.

Michigan basketball‘s 2021 class is huge and it’s only going to get bigger. Isaiah Barnes led us off, the rising small forward from Oak Park, Illinois, comes in at 115th nationally, but will probably break into the top 100 if basketball is allowed to be played.

Next up is Will Tschetter, the scoring monster from Minnesota. The 6-foot-8 forward is a three-star and with a little development, he could become a real threat in the Big Ten.

We knew the Wolverines weren’t done. Juwan still had scholarships and so Kobe Bufkin took him up on his offer. Kobe is another wing/scoring guard that can do just about whatever is asked of him.

The latest member of the class is quite possibly the most needed. With very little depth at the point, this four-star knew how badly his services were required and he comes on as the highest-ranked out of the bunch. His name is Frankie Collins and he’s going to be the reason for the majority of cheering at Crisler for years to come.

That still leaves an opening, and possibly two with attrition, to fill another position of need at center, and then Howard has a little wiggle room. The staff has been targeting several five stars, but recently, two rose to the top. Two guys had their recruiting updated and it showed Michigan is still in the running.

With Trevor Keels, the message isn’t promising for the Wolverines. However, Trevor won’t be committing anytime soon and UM is making progress.

"“Michigan is definitely still in it for Trevor Keels, but Duke and Villanova are the two to beat.” Rivals analyst Corey Evans wrote. “Keels has said very little, at least publicly, about where things stand with his recruitment but it would come as a mild surprise if he did not pick the Blue Devils or Wildcats in the end. Michigan has remained in touch, as has North Carolina and Virginia. I wouldn’t hold my breath if I was a Wolverine fan.”"

The other five-star prospect that’s high on Michigan’s board is Harrison Ingram. Evans feels a lot more optimistic about the Wolverine’s chances in the Ingram sweepstakes.

"“Harrison Ingram is a different story,” Evans continued. “I am still sticking with Purdue or Stanford for him, but if it isn’t the Boilermakers or Cardinal, Michigan would be the pick. The Wolverines have made Ingram a major priority since offering earlier in the spring.“"

Matt’s musings

A few others fall into the wiggle room possibility: a pair of four-stars both from the Chicago area. The first is Brandon Weston, another wing who recently dropped his top six and included Michigan. UM is in competition with Illinois, Pitt, Seton Hall, Wake Forest, and Western Illinois for Weston.

The other four-star is Bryce Hopkins, a former Louisville commit. Scouts have mentioned he’s not the greatest athlete in the world, but he’s got the skill to cover for any deficiencies. As soon as Hopkins reopened his commitment, UM reached out and offered shortly after.

There is one last recruit I must mention. A five-star point guard from Nebraska named Hunter Sallis. Per 247 sports, Hunter is a combo-guard and there’s no arguing he could play the two or the three. As it stands, Sallis has three FutureCasts to Kansas and no crystal balls. Again, still early for Hunter and if Michigan continues to make a push, they could come out on top.
