Michigan basketball finally landed its point guard in the 2021 recruiting class in four-star recruit Frankie Collins, who is going to be a perfect fit.

Michigan basketball added another commitment to the 2021 recruiting class Wednesday night as four-star point guard Frankie Collins pledged to Juwan Howard and the Wolverines.

While the Wolverines pursued a number of other point guards before extending an offer to Collins, Michigan landed a good one in the four-star point guard who ranks 57th overall in the 247 sports composite rankings for 2021.

Certainly, the staff would have loved Jalen Warley, a five-star recruit that committed to Florida State over Michigan, but the Wolverines rallying to land Collins is a big deal.

Point guard was a huge need for this class and with most of the top guys already off the board, landing Collins was essential.

Here’s what Dylan Burkhardt of UMHoops ($) had to say about Collins in his scouting report:

"“Collins is a traditional point guard who controls the game from the lead guard position. He’s not the biggest guard in the country at 6-foot-1, but he’s a good athlete with a great feel for the position. He can run an offense, break down defenders and consistently create shots for himself and his teammates. He has the tools to be a good defender at the college level and can rise up and finish above the rim with highlight dunks.”"

Collins was a nice addition for a lot of reasons and we start by taking a deeper look at his fit in the program.
