Michigan basketball has no shortage of talent for the 2020-21 season. Although, there might be some surprises coming as a few under-the-radar guys are set to prosper this season.

During the 2019-20 season, missing three starters and with a new head coach, Michigan basketball was in dire need of some shooters. With Iggy, Poole, and Matthews no longer providing support, UM turned to the guy known as quite possibly the best sixth-man in the country from the year prior, Isaiah Livers.

The offense never missed a step until conference play rolled around, and by the time the regular season was nearing the end, and Isaiah had exhausted all of his energy with injuries, Franz Wagner walked up to the plate and started knocking it out of the park. His consistent double-digit scoring and lockdown defense kept the Wolverines competitive, even in the face of the conference’s best.

A junior and a freshman were breakout stars, along with Austin ‘Big Country’ Davis, who emerged from the shadows as a more than capable replacement for Jon Teske.

The trio was a bunch of nobodies in 2018. Livers contributed when he was needed from the bench, but few saw the potential. Franz couldn’t break into the top 100 for his class, and Davis pulled a disappearing act under John Beilein. They rose to the occasion.

Now the breakout torch must be handed down to a new trio. A couple of freshmen and a seasoned veteran will carry it.
