Michigan Football: Revised game-by-game predictions for Wolverines
October
After a 4-0 start in October, the Wolverines face the meat of their schedule in October, including the annual showdown with Ohio State.
Oct. 3 vs Michigan State (W)
I was a little worried about this game, on the road, in East Lansing. However, since the Spartans will come back to Michigan Stadium, I’m more confident in the outcome. From top to bottom, Michigan is just better talent-wise, I don’t see this being that close.
Oct. 17 at Indiana (W)
Indiana has been on the rise and playing at Bloomington the week before Ohio State doesn’t make it any easier. But, the Wolverines should be coming off a bye week and while this will be a testy one, U-M will survive and keep its unbeaten record heading into Columbus.
Oct. 24 at Ohio State (L)
If Michigan football is able to run the table in its first six games, it will be a dream scenario for Fox Sports and the Big Ten in terms of TV ratings. Ultimately, the records won’t matter much. Ohio State will be undefeated and Michigan should be ranked.
Hopefully, by this time, McCaffrey or Milton have established themselves as the starter. Ideally, in my opinion, it would be Milton, with McCaffrey getting playing time as a runner/athlete. But neither QB is Justin Fields and while it will be competitive, the Wolverines won’t win.
Oct. 31 vs Wisconsin
For multiple reasons, I wouldn’t want to be Wisconsin in this game. In a change, Michigan football will get to play a week after losing to Ohio State and I think a bunch of motivated players will take out their anger on the Badgers, who haven’t won at U-M (0-2) since Harbaugh’s been around.
