Michigan Football: Dissecting the Wolverines updated schedule
By Nick Popio
Schedule Analysis
Michigan football will jump into the conference gauntlet with pesky Purdue instead of hosting the Badgers.
The Boilermakers may find the task of traveling to Ann Arbor unenviable to get things rolling out of the gates. Covering Rondale Moore and their quirky receivers should be the gameplan in the opener at the Big House.
After that a trip to Minneapolis against an upstart Gopher team awaits. It’s definitely one that Minnesota has to have circled on their calendar for a long time.
Last time the maize and blue went to the twin cities they barely survived by inches. There’s no doubt that P.J. Fleck will have his club ready to come out of that one with nothing less then a win.
Penn State comes calling the following week. They are a sleeper Big Ten champion selection behind the Buckeyes in the East.
If played, that duel will be a smash mouth type of outing. It bodes well for Michigan football because the home team has had the upper hand in this rivalry’s recent history.
Two favorable matchups are on the list heading into October. Rutgers won’t be a pushover in Piscataway, but they haven’t been competitive with Jim Harbaugh’s crew for a while.
October 3rd will be a day that a lot of folks have been looking forward to with Michigan State now taking the short bus ride down I-96. The winged helmets seek to extend their winning streak to three over the hated green and white.
The brutal October ramps up with another worrisome call to Bloomington. Tom Allen’s bunch always has revenge on their mind whenever they get a shot at the Wolverines.
No one needs to be told what is next as the most must win game of every season for Michigan football gets moved up a month. That’s going to be an unusual spectacle in itself supposing things are ongoing at that point.
Wisconsin closes October’s run before Maryland and Northwestern finalize the month of November.
Having the Badgers come to Michigan stadium has also been a good omen as of late. That could conceivably lead to an overdue Big Ten championship oppurtunity depending upon how the stars align for Michigan in this unforgettable 2020 season.
