Michigan football offered another quarterback recruit over the weekend in Malachi Nelson, a pro-style QB out of California.

As far as quarterbacks are concerned, it’s really never too early to start recruiting them and in the 2023 class, Michigan football has now offered three quarterbacks according to 247 sports.

While the Wolverines previously offered Dante Moore and William Watson III, the latest signal caller to get an offer from Michigan football is Malachi Nelson, out of Los Alamitos, California.

Moore is a 6-foot-2 kid from Detroit and he’s listed as a pro-style passer. Watson, on other hand, is from Massachusetts and he’s a dual-threat kid. Both are very talented, and as you will find out if you watch Nelson’s highlights, he is too. He reported the offer on Twitter this weekend.

Nelson is already 6-foot-3 and the sophomore-to-be is extremely talented. Obviously he will need to keep maturing physically and he’s listed at about 180 pounds. His verified time in the 40-yard dash is 4.9, which won’t set the world on fire, but it’s not bad at all.

And Nelson is a pro-style quarterback.

He throws the football very well. The thing I noticed watching his highlights was his accuracy down the field. That’s a tough thing for a quarterback sometimes and Michigan QB’s have really struggled with it.

Whether it’s from a clean pocket or when he has to move around a bit, Nelson is very accurate with the football. He’s arm is plenty strong, but the attribute that stands out most to me is accuracy and that’s huge.

Accuracy is more than just being able to hit a receiver down the field on a 50-yard dime. That’s important too, but you have to be able to hit the throws on the sideline or across the middle on third down. You have to find those tight windows and it seems like Nelson can do that.

Getting the ball to receivers where they can run with it is critical and it’s especially important in the offense Josh Gattis is wanting to run, with a lot of things focused on yards after the catch.

Nelson gets the football out quick but also shows the ability to make things happen and throw on the run. In offering Nelson, Michigan joins a growing list of teams that includes Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Oregon, USC, Georgia and Ohio State.

Next. What's next for Michigan's 2021 class?. dark

Nelson’s list is a who’s who of college programs. So landing him won’t be easy but with his potential, it’s at least worth a shot.
