Who wins over Rocco?

When you ask the questions what’s next for Michigan football recruiting, it should probably be, who’s next? As in who will be the next to commit?

One strong candidate is Rocco Spindler who will be deciding between the Wolverines and Notre Dame Aug. 8. Obviously, this recruitment has been a huge priority for U-M this cycle and the Clarkston, MI, prospect, who ranks 48th overall and third in the state is a must land.

While Michigan would likely still get four-star Drew Kendall if Spindler chose the Irish, and Kendall is the No. 8 guard in the 247 composite rankings, Spindler is a different cat.

Kendall is a 6-foot-4, 260 pounds, while Spindler is listed as nearly 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds. To say it blunt: Spindler isn’t coming to Ann Arbor to redshirt. He will at least make the two-deep as a freshman and could probably push for playing time or to start right away.

He’s a Cesar Ruiz level prospect. It took about 5-6 games before Ruiz proved he was one of Michigan’s top five lineman and started at guard, before taking over at center.

Since Kendall appears to be waiting for Rocco to make a decision, it appears to be an either or situation for the Wolverines and as much as I like Kendall, anything but Rocco will be a disappointment.

With six days to go, Spindler isn’t tipping anything and we may not know until he finally says the words.
