Michigan Basketball: Predicting Wolverines top 5 scorers in 2020-21
By Ryan Kraus
No. 1 Franz Wagner
Franz Wagner was arguably the best all-around player for the Wolverines last season. After recovering from a wrist injury that caused him to miss the start of the season, Wagner showed why he was highly coveted by Michigan. He was a dynamic player on offense and defense.
Wagner took some time to get going and adjust to how the college game is played. He came from playing at Alba Berlin, professionally.
Once he got adjusted, Franz showed how impactful he could be on a nightly basis.
He can score from all three levels and has the most polished offensive game on the team. When he gets to the rim, he can use a variety of moves to get the bucket. He uses his pivot foot to his advantage.
Franz is also a great transition player, he is an adept passer and scorer who loves to run the floor.
Towards the end of last season, Franz hit his stride and scored double-digit points in the last 7 games of the season. He was becoming the top option for the Wolverines.
He gets the nod over Isaiah Livers because of his more well rounded offensive game.
Wagner averaged 11.6 ppg last season and he improves that 4-5 ppg in 2020 making him the top scorer for the Wolverines.
