Michigan Football: Predicting offensive stat leaders for 2020
Receiving leaders
Last season, Ronnie Bell led two of the three receiving categories: receptions and receiving yards. The leader in touchdown receptions was Nico Collins, who had 37 catches for 729 yards and three touchdowns.
Bell burst onto the scene last season with 48 receptions for 758 yards and one touchdown. He was a revelation in the slot in Josh Gattis’ offensive system and as a junior, he should be in line for another big season.
However, the Wolverines have tons of talented wide receivers, such as Giles Jackson, Mike Sainristil and incoming freshman A.J. Henning. All of these guys could take away catches and yards from Bell, who was clearly the top slot guy a year ago.
Certainly, Bell is going to be a productive player and I expect him to be top two in all three categories. I just expect Nico Collins to eclipse him in each and make a serious run at being recognized as one of the best wideouts in the nation.
Collins has always had the ability to dominate and in his senior season, he will finally put it all together. Milton’s deep-ball accuracy will help, as will the running game and all the weapons around Nico, who will eventually become a first or second rounder in the 2021 NFL draft.
