He’s Injury Prone

McCaffrey, the presumed clubhouse leader at quarterback for Michigan football, has missed spurts over the last two seasons due to injuries.

When he was the primary ball carrier his instincts to breakdown and run have proved to be unlucky. That’s a dangerous flaw to possess as a running quarterback. It almost certainly backfires on the individual more often than not.

When the offensive line breaks down he must learn to throw the ball away more or slide down himself. Going through his reads as quickly as possible can only last so long when the pocket is collapsing around you. Stepping up more and using his size to his advantage might do wonders for his game.

By showing that command in the pocket it will eventually give him more confidence to execute at a championship level. That level of legitimate consistency has not been seen at the position for the Wolverines in what seems like an eternity.

It may even be what’s been missing from Harbaugh’s bunch willing its way to the elusive heights of the postseason that they haven’t experienced for far too long.
