Michigan Basketball: Every former Wolverine playing in NBA restart
Big Dog JR
One former Michigan basketball player fans seem to forget about is Glenn Robinson III. He was an explosive and unique talent for the Wolverines and after being a second-round pick in the NBA draft, he has sort of bounced around the league.
In six seasons, Robinson III has played for five NBA teams and is now on his second stint with the 76ers after getting traded from Golden State earlier this season. Yet, he was traded because he was scoring nearly 13 points a game for the Warriors and reportedly, some players within the franchise were upset when he was moved.
After playing more than 31 minutes a night for the Warriors, he averaged 18.9 in 12 games with Philly, including four starts. He’s scoring 7.4 points and shooting 52 percent from the field, so he should see some solid minutes as his club tries to move up from sixth before the playoffs begin.
Moe Wagner
Another familiar face you will see during the NBA restart is Moritz Wagner, who will be suiting up for the Washington Wizards. Washington is actually the No. 9 seed in the East and currently trail the Magic by 5.5 games for the final spot.
The Wizards would need to make up 1.5 games on the Magic to force a tiebreaker, which would be a two-game series in which Washington would need to win both games to advance. It’s not likely, but the time should allow Wagner to showcase himself.
He’s averaged 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in 43 games this season. He’s also shooting 34 percent from 3-point range and 57.5 percent overall in 19 minutes a game.
It always seemed like he had the skill to be productive in the NBA and while he hasn’t proven himself to be a full-time starter yet, he has shown potential and can build on that in Orlando. D.J. Wilson was with the Bucks but was moved down to the G-League. He could potentially play too.
