Michigan Football: 4 Wolverines who need to be alphas in 2020
Daxton Hill
There are lots of reasons to feel good about the talent Michigan football has on the defensive side of the ball at all three levels. While the offense lost a bunch of starters, the defense only lost a handful and has experienced players ready to step in just about everywhere.
Last season, Daxton Hill played some corner and safety for Michigan, but this year, he would be a full-fledged safety, playing the deep middle. That’s where he could make the biggest impact. Hill can be the eraser on the deep ball and also help limit big plays by getting guys to the ground.
Michigan’s defense has been really good, but it’s struggled giving up big plays and Hill has the ability to get that under control, on top of making some of the impact plays you’d expect from a guy with his speed.
The defense is going to be improved this season, at least it should be, but if it wants to have a shot at slowing down the Ohio State’s of the world, Hill needs to play like an All-Big Ten safety right away in 2020.
