Michigan Football: Pros and cons for Joe Milton, Dylan McCaffrey
By Nick Popio
Michigan football followers are glued into one a fierce quarterback competition that has been ongoing since Shea Patterson departed for the NFL.
Over a month ago offensive coordinator Josh Gattis exclaimed that “Michigan is nowhere near having a QB frontrunner for 2020.” Those words made nerves rattle across the entire Michigan football universe.
With no prep in the spring, it put Shea Patterson’s successor behind the eight ball instead of possibly having cleared up the position heading into fall camp.
Michigan football’s two potential starters, three if you believe Gattis, have been putting in the work as well they can respectively.
Joe Milton was captured on video working with former Michigan QB Devin Gardner with typical training reps that can keep him in form. While, Dylan McCaffrey spent time with his family in Colorado grinding at a local park. Both are doing what is expected of them as leaders to win one of the most prestigious jobs in all of college football.
Now, Gattis and his support staff must fast track the two whenever camp officially opens. Not to mention finding four new starters on the offensive line to help protect which guy wins the job for week one.
Patience will sorely be needed for Gattis and his coaches to choose the best man for each gig. Though excuses won’t be tolerated in the long run, the correct decisions still have to be made during the short term process.
Here’s a look at pros and cons of both Milton and McCaffrey.
