Michigan Football: 5 true freshmen most likely to play in 2020
The Michigan football program brings a deep and talented freshman class in for the 2020 season and here are five guys who could play right away.
If you look across the depth chart of Michigan football, you won’t see a ton of holes. There are position battles ready to take place at a number of positions sure, but at most of them, there is experienced talented returning.
That will make it hard for some of the top incoming freshmen to make their way onto the field next season and truth to be told, I wouldn’t expect a huge impact from the 2020 recruiting class right away.
Most of the time, that’s how things go. There will be a few freshmen that make an impact, just like last season with guys like Zach Charbonnet, Giles Jackson, Mike Sainristil and Daxton Hill but it will be limited.
However, there are some guys who can make a case for being on the two-deep, at least at some point this next season and here are the five with the best chance.
DE/Edge Braiden McGregor
Braiden McGregor is Michigan football’s top defensive recruit in the 2020 class and he’s a freak of a man at 6-foot-6, 260 pounds. In high school, not only was he a tremendous pass rusher, he was a really solid tight end, which just showcases his tremendous athleticism.
Unfortunately, McGregor was injured near the tail end of his senior high school football season, so he won’t be coming to the Wolverines with a clean bill of health. Yet, the reports about McGregor have been good and there seems to be little doubt that he will be ready for fall camp.
His impact may not come as early as it might have, but sort of like Aidan Hutchinson did as a freshman, I expect McGregor to slowly work his way on the field and make some contributions.
