Michigan is still a contender, especially in Big Ten

Losing Christopher is a devastating blow, there is no debate about that. He was the kind of dominant scoring guard Michigan lacked last season and the piece that would have allowed everything to come together.

Now, Michigan has to change its course a little bit. The Wolverines have a surplus of wings with Livers, Wagner and Todd. It remains to be seen if those guys could play the two, three and four, with Brandon Johns at center.

Of course, first things first, Todd needs to sign. Cole Bajema is a guy who flashed promise a year ago and could get more run in the backcourt. And Smith is a dynamic scorer, who can run the point, while allowing Brooks to play at the two.

Finding someone to start at the two probably won’t be as tough as the decision at center, which gets more difficult if both Livers and Todd are on the roster as each is probably the best fit at the four. Livers is also a natural three, but that puts Wagner out of position defensively at the two.

At the end of the day, with the caveat of Todd arriving in Ann Arbor, with Livers, Wagner, Johns, Brooks, Smith and four-star freshmen like Hunter Dickinson, a legit post presence, Terrance Williams and Zeb Jackson, there is still plenty to like about this roster.

Heck, even if Todd spurns the Wolverines, as long as Livers and Wagner are back, Michigan will be one of the three or four best teams in the Big Ten.
