Michigan Football: Top 10 All-Time Wolverine wide receivers
People forget about Amani Toomer, the college football player, because of how well he performed as a New York Giant. 13 seasons, all with the same team.
It’s rare.
Nowadays, players are dumped due to contract negotiations or traded for draft picks. There are the Tom Bradys who has spent what seemed like two careers in New England before heading to Tampa Bay. Matthew Stafford hasn’t left the Lions, and unless they select Tua Tagoviloa third overall, he’s likely to retire in Detroit like Toomer in New York.
Back to the college days.
Toomer is fourth all-time for receiving yards at Michigan, seventh all-time for receptions in a season, and 8th all-time for career touchdown receptions.
With Amani Toomer in the maize and blue, Michigan was undefeated against MSU and held a 2-1-1 record over OSU. He was an unstoppable force for the Wolverines.
He played with Elvis Grbac and for Gary Moeller. He was part of that team that took down second-ranked Ohio State. His dad played for Woody Hayes, and yet, he chose UM. He is (one of) the most interesting Michigan men in the world.
Upon graduation, Amani was drafted in the second round by the Giants and, as stated earlier, stayed with them his entire career. He is considered one of the greatest Giants of all-time, and his name can be found on their ring of honor.
