Michigan basketball standout Isaiah Livers announced his decision to declare for the 2020 NBA draft and here are some immediate thoughts.

It wasn’t long ago that Michigan basketball coach Juwan Howard said Isaiah Livers was exploring the NBA draft and Monday, the University put out a release that he was officially declaring for the 2020 NBA draft.

Of course, this isn’t a huge surprise. Nowadays, players are able to declare for the draft and hire an agent, while still having the ability to return to school. Players can get evaluated and go through workouts, so this isn’t necessarily the end of Livers’ Michigan basketball career.

Here’s what he said in the release via mgoblue.com:

"“After much reflection and prayer, I have decided to enter my name into the 2020 NBA Draft and start the full evaluation process. The University of Michigan has done so much for me and helped me get to a position where I might be able to reach my goal of playing professional basketball. While this is only the start of the evaluation, I have appreciated your encouragement and will continue to need it as this process moves on.”"

But there is much more to the story. Livers isn’t highly regarded by draft prognosticators right now and there is a question about whether or not he would even get drafted.

There are a few different things to look at in this kind of situation, so here are three thoughts on Livers decision and a look at how it could all end up.
