Michigan Basketball: 5 keys to a deep run in Big Ten tournament
Michigan basketball has played in the Big Ten tournament championship three straight times and here are five keys to another deep run for the Wolverines.
Over the last three seasons, things have clicked for Michigan basketball in the postseason and despite losing three of their last four games, there is hope the Wolverines can do it again.
But that hope isn’t baseless, it’s very real. When Michigan basketball has played well this season, it has proven it can play with just about anyone.
The Wolverines whipped Gonzaga, a team that will get a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament, on a neutral floor, while also beating Creighton and Michigan State at home, as well as Purdue and Rutgers, twice away from home.
The Wolverines need to play better than they did during the final two weeks of the season, but if they can start firing on all cylinders again as they were just a few weeks ago, a few wins or a run to the title game doesn’t seem impossible, especially in a league defined by parity.
Wisconsin, Maryland and Michigan State are all good teams, but the Wolverines can beat each of them, as can a number of other teams in the Big Ten. It’s on a neutral floor in Indy and it’s going to be exciting. Michigan opens Thursday against Rutgers (12:00 PM EST) and here are five keys for the Wolverines if they want to make another deep run at the Big Ten tournament.
