Michigan basketball is quickly being reclassified from a development academy to a one-and-done factory under new head coach Juwan Howard. Here are a few of his 2021 targets.

No two people are alike and that’s especially true with college basketball coaches and their coaching philosophies. Former Michigan basketball head coach John Beilein had a knack for getting the most out of the three and four-star caliber athletes – developing them into bonafide NBA stars.

Juwan Howard, on the other hand, has no interest in dragging out the process and securing seats on the bench for guys that won’t see the court for two or three years before reaching starter status. Howard wants the right now type; the one-and-done hoop stars.

Isaiah Todd – 13th overall for the 2020 class – was Juwan’s first to jump on board followed by the 7-foot-2 traditional big man Hunter Dickinson. The SF/PF Terrance Williams pledged shortly after Hunter, and Juwan’s son, Jace Howard, was the latest addition to the fourth-ranked class in the nation.

There are rumors that Juwan’s masterpiece isn’t complete; that one or two more could end up in Ann Arbor for next season.

As each day passes, the anticipation mounts for Joshua Christopher‘s decision. 100% of his 247 sports crystal balls are in UM’s favor and his recent post on Twitter has sparked new debates as to his landing place and speculation as to when he will decide to attend.

Finally, Greg Brown, ranked 9th overall for 2020, has expressed interest in the program and went as far as taking a visit which ended up being a positive interaction. Greg witnessed the underdog Wolverines dominate in-state rivals Michigan State in early February – highlighting Howard’s coaching skills and proving Juwan is more than just a great recruiter.

The tricky thing is that while Juwan and his staff must prepare and entertain prospects for next year, on top of the massive amount of other, you know, coaching duties, they also must start visiting with and getting commitments from members of the 2021 class.

Here are three five-star recruits the Wolverines are targeting.
