Former Michigan football players Channing Stribling and De’Veon Smith had solid weekends in the XFL as a Wolverine picked off a pass once again.

If Michigan football fans want or need a reason to get into the XFL, then the Seattle Dragons could be that for Wolverines fans as the Seattle corners, Channing Stribling and Jeremy Clark, are standing out.

They are each former Michigan football players and for the second straight week, one of them came away with an interception. Clark notched his first interception in the league a week ago, while Stribling followed it with an interception of his own in Week 3 against the Dallas Renegades.

The Dragons ended up losing the game 24-12, which dropped their record to 1-2 on the season, but if you are looking some former Michigan guys doing good things, the Seattle team has a couple.

Another team that Michigan football fans can keep an eye on is the Tampa Bay Vipers, who have a former Wolverine in the backfield in De’Veon Smith.

Smith was a fun guy to watch for the Wolverines, especially during his final two seasons with Michigan which coincided with the start of the Harbaugh era. He put up solid numbers at U-M and was signed as an undrafted free agent, but didn’t make it in the NFL.

Yet, Smith has been solid so far this season for Tampa and has received at least 11 carries in each of the first three games. In the first game of the season, he ran the ball 16 times for 79 yards. He followed that up by rushing for 46 yards on 11 attempts in Week 2, another loss for the Vipers.

Saturday, he didn’t run the ball as well, racking up 49 yards on 15 carries, however, he caught two passes for 36 yards, including one reception for 25. He’s still waiting to score his first touchdown but the Michigan football product is averaging 4.1 yards per rush attempt. He also has eight receptions for 56 yards.

Unfortunately, Tampa Bay is 0-3. Seattle is 1-2 but it’s still early. There are eight teams and four playoff spots available so a lot can happen. The point is that if you want to follow some former Wolverines, Seattle and Tampa Bay, are probably the best option.
