Who wins?

If Livers is able to play Michigan basketball should be in a much better position to win the game, it just feels like he might end up sitting again.

It’s really hard to get a read on it. If Livers was able to go through workouts Friday, it could mean he’s ready to go. With an ankle, it could heal with some extra rest. But, after seeing his team get to 8-7, Howard might be cautious too.

Certainly, another win on the road would be huge, especially in the race for the top four in the Big Ten, but the Wolverines still have four big games after this, as well as the Big Ten and NCAA tournaments, so there is no reason to rush Livers back.

Even without him, Brandon Johns has to play better than he did at Rutgers. I’d still give Michigan the talent edge too, especially with the emergence of Franz Wagner, David DeJulius and Austin Davis in recent weeks.

Purdue’s leading scorer is Trevion Williams followed by Hunter. Matt Haarms, a 7-foot-3 big man, is also a factor but no Boilermaker averages more than 11 per game.

With or without Livers, it’s lining up to be a defensive battle, which works just fine for the Wolverines who will win ugly.
