Michigan football is going to host the top-ranked running back in 2021, which continues a strong start at the position.

The Michigan football program is off to a strong start with the 2021 recruiting class, having already locked down a five-star quarterback and a top-100 left tackle.

J.J. McCarthy, the No. 2 quarterback in 2021, flashed his skills at a 7-on-7 tournament and he’s still the centerpiece of the Wolverines efforts, however, Michigan football also has some top priorities at running back too and one of them is TreVeyon Henderson, the nation’s No.1 back.

Henderson, who is from Hopewell, Virginia, and according to the 247 sports specific rankings, he’s the No. 1 back in the country and No. 11 overall. If you look at the composite rankings, Henderson is the No. 2 running back and ranked 22nd. He’s 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds and trying to land him will be difficult with just about every major power after him.

Yet, the good news for Michigan football fans is that Henderson is going to take an official visit to the Wolverines this summer on June 19th according to The Michigan Insider ($).

As of right now, Clemson has the only crystal ball that has been put out for Henderson, and since the running back has already been on campus, Michigan should be in a solid position to make a run at him.

Donovan Edwards is another name to watch and the four-star running back, who resides in the state of Michigan, is considered a Michigan lean by many since the Wolverines own 100 percent of his crystal balls. He’s ranked 33rd according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

Last season, Michigan had a pair of dynamic running backs in Zach Charbonnet and Hassan Haskins and that’s something the Wolverines would surely like to replicate and if there was a way to nab both Edwards and Henderson, they would be in business.

Here’s the scouting report on Henderson, which makes you think he’d make a great pairing with Edwards:

"“Frame to play cornerback or running back but must add size. Elite athleticism. Quick feet, loose hips allow for impressive change of direction. Offers position versatility. Accelerates well and has top-end speed. As running back, combines vision and patience. Gets through hole quickly. Elusive in space. Effective pass catcher.”"

Edwards is more of a power guy and the duo could be a great fit in the system of Josh Gattis, who is the top recruiter along with Jay Harbaugh.

This will certainly be a recruiting battle to watch, but the Wolverines are getting Henderson around the right time and during the summer, you never know, maybe it could lead to a commitment.
