Michigan Basketball: 3 Reasons to look forward to postseason
Do they have grit?
We’ve seen the come-out-of-nowhere, dominating, trash-talking, full-of-swagger Michigan men that walked away from the Battle 4 Atlantis with the trophy AND we’ve seen the what-are-we-looking-at, disappointing, season-is-over, fouling non-stop Wolverines.
One features a firing-on-all-cylinders Isaiah Livers, and the other is absent of a shooter.
One wins, and one is a perpetual loser.
With any luck, team B is long gone, and team A has returned healthy, happy, and ready for a fight. As we all know, though, regular-season wins mean nothing when March’s win-or-go-home tournament policy is instituted. All it takes is one bad call, one jersey-ripping while falling down flagrant can end the season and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.
During March Madness, people play differently. They play harder. They play knowing that if they don’t get the job done, they’re going home.
The tournament separates those who have grit from those who don’t; those who have the need to win from the pretenders.
We have to look forward to the postseason to see which team this is. They displayed grit, the need to win, and the unbridled desire to defeat a big-time program on Saturday. Will they show us that same discipline and determination in the next two months?
