Michigan Basketball: 3 takeaways from a debilitating defeat
By Nick Popio
NCAA Tournament Dreams Are Becoming Scarce
With yet another loss on the tournament resume, Michigan is making a case to miss out on March madness. Although they have four wins over currently projected tournament clubs, the losses are mounting at the wrong time. Losing on the road to Minnesota is clearly the worst loss on the schedule and it cannot afford another one like it.
A golden opportunity is staring them right in the face this Saturday. With the Spartans making the short trek to Ann Arbor the maize and blue can gain a top-notch win by paying back Michigan State for a humiliating defeat over a month ago. For that to happen the Wolverines will have to shoot better than the 36 percent they shot in the first meeting in East Lansing.
A healthy Isaiah Livers appears to be a pipe dream at this point. Getting him back is beyond desperately needed for Michigan basketball to save what’s left for the rest of the schedule.
Until that time comes others will continuously be relied upon to play above their limits. That makes it that much more harder than it already is for a team that is struggling to get things together with time running out.
