Michigan Football: Potential grad transfer target heads to Duke
Michigan football had expressed some interest in a few players who had put their name into the transfer portal and Monday, one announced a decision.
The Michigan football team hasn’t been a huge player in the transfer portal over the years, but it’s never a bad thing to show some interest or kick a few tires.
With four of the Wolverines five starters on the offensive line, that seemed like a good place for Michigan football to start as some depth and experience could be explored.
One name that popped up with a connection to Michigan was Stanford offensive lineman Devery Hamilton.
Hamilton is a guy that was once a highly-ranked four-star recruit, as well as a guy that offers some position versatility, having started at both tackle and guard during his career, which is certainly something that could appeal to a team like Michigan.

The Wolverines will only return Jalen Mayfield as a starter, while Cesar Ruiz, Jon Runyan Jr., Michael Onwenu and Ben Bredeson are all leaving for graduation or the NFL.
Hamilton seemed like a good fit because he could have competed to start at multiple positions or provided the Wolverines with a potentially solid swing tackle.
Unfortunately, Hamilton is headed elsewhere, to Duke actually, as he posted on social media Monday.
In the big picture, it’s not a huge loss. Even if Hamilton came to Michigan football, he wasn’t guaranteed to start or anything and after some initial interest, you didn’t hear very much in the way of interest on the Wolverines end of things.
So it’s hard to know if the staff really wanted Hamilton or not. As I said, there is no harm in kicking the tires and seeing if there is a fit. There will probably be more of that happening with defensive tackles in the coming weeks but spring football isn’t too far away.
And when that time rolls around, it looks like the Wolverines will be going with the roster they have right now.
