In an electric atmosphere at the world’s most famous arena, Michigan Basketball picks up another quality neutral court win over a ranked opponent.

The return of Zavier Simpson willed Michigan basketball to an important resume-building victory on this Saturday afternoon. The senior leader found his teammates time and time again for points in the paint, including several highlight-reel slams. Simpson showcased his talents with 10 assists to regain the trust of his fellow players and stay unbeaten versus Rutgers all time.

Michigan’s defense has really shown up the last week with more of the bend but not break mentality. It forced the Scarlet Knights to 33 percent shooting on the day. Rutgers couldn’t get comfortable enough to get within striking distance. It also helped the maize and blue earn a handful of opportunities at the free throw line where they ultimately salted the game away.

Brandon Johns had his second straight career-altering outing. He was just about everywhere when the Wolverines needed him the most. He notched a game-high 20 points and 4-7 from the three-point stripe. Knowing he would be stepping into the lineup for Isaiah Livers, Johns has amped up his play to another level that Michigan had to have in the worst way imaginable.

It all led to an enormous 69-63 for the Wolverines. Here’s the analysis.
