The Washington Huskies had a legendary head coach in Chris Petersen – a man that cared and did so much not only for Washington but for the entirety of college football. Chris took over a Husky squad that was usually a borderline bowl team and elevated them to a certified contender by his third season.

And in 2019, he said goodbye.

Chris wasn’t the only significant departure from the program. Quarterback Jacob Eason declared for the draft leaving behind a legacy as a freshman at Georgia and in his one season in Seattle. Who replaces him is anyone’s guess at this point.

Eason’s favorite target will also forgo his final year of eligibility. Tight end Hunter Bryant is heading to the NFL after catching 52 balls for over 800-yards. Bryant wasn’t a traditional TE, and he will see more reps in the slot on an NFL offense, but that’s neither here nor there considering he won’t be on the field in the fall at the collegiate level.

There will be continuity as the 1,000-yard+ rusher Salvon Ahmed returns and will look to improve his draft stock. Unless the Wolverines find depth at defensive tackle, they will undoubtedly have difficulty stopping the speedy back.

Defensively, Washington is in the Pac 12, so for all intents and purposes, they don’t participate on that side of the ball.
