Simpson and Teske try to carry Wolverines to win

In just about every metric, Teske has been the Wolverines best player this season. He’s the leading scorer, the leading rebounder and the leading shot blocker.

And I expect him to have a really strong game against Iowa. If Michigan basketball is going to have a shot to escape Iowa with a win, Teske has to out-perform Garza, plain and simple.

His defense inside needs to get better and he also needs to be dominant on the offensive end, which will entail him making some outside shots. Teske is shooting 28 percent from deep this season but he has reached double figures in every game but one in which he hits at least once from beyond the arc.

The screen-and-roll game with Simpson, who comes in averaging 12.6 ppg, will be huge. The senior point guard was outstanding against Minnesota, yet he will need help from guys like Franz Wagner and David DeJulius.

Teske and Simpson can’t win the game by themselves, but they will keep the Wolverines in it at the very least.
