Michigan basketball lost a very winnable game against Minnesota Sunday and here are three things we learned about the Wolverines in the loss.

Ever since Michigan basketball went on an early-season tear and won the Battle 4 Atlantis, the play of the Wolverines has been a little up and down.

That’s been especially true since the loss of Isaiah Livers due to injury. The junior, who is Michigan’s top scorer, has missed the last four games and it’s hard to say when he will return.

Michigan’s biggest issues have come on the road, where it has suffered four of its five losses. To be fair, the Wolverines don’t have a bad loss. All of their defeats have come to teams ranked in the top-50 of the Kenpom rankings.

The disappointing thing is that vs Minnesota, Michigan had a genuine chance to win the game with a lead late and just couldn’t close the deal. U-M couldn’t get stops when it needed to and on the other end, missed shots and mistakes proved costly.

The loss dropped Michigan to 2-3 in the Big Ten and with a road game looming against Iowa Friday, that’s not a great position to be in for the Wolverines.

There were some positives to take away from the loss, but also some lessons that need to be learned. Head coach Juwan Howard needs to adjust or get Livers back in a hurry. Either way, a change is needed because things are a little off. Here’s what we learned.
