Michigan basketball restarts Big Ten play Sunday in East Lansing against Michigan State and here’s how to watch as well as predictions.

It has been an awesome ride with Juwan Howard as Michigan basketball‘s head coach during these first two months of the season. But now, it gets real for the Wolverines and Howard as they get set to take on Michigan State.

As a former Michigan basketball player, Howard will need no introduction to the importance of this rivalry, which is pretty similar to Ohio State for the football team. Not in results, although the Spartans have won three in a row, including the Big Ten tournament title game last year.

MSU also swept Michigan basketball in the regular season, which cost the Wolverines a chance at a Big Ten regular-season championship. So U-M is desperate for a win and the anticipation of seeing Howard and Tom Izzo square off is palpable.

And if Howard’s recruiting is any indication, this rivalry is about to hit a whole new level.

The first of two scheduled meetings takes place this afternoon and here’s all the key info:

Both teams come in with similar records, Michigan State is 10-3 and 3-0 in the Big Ten. The Wolverines are 1-1 with their loss on the road to Illinois, a team MSU beat at home earlier this week.

Obviously, in the Big Ten title race, every game is essential and a win would certainly announce the Wolverines as contenders and here are three predictions.
