Starter: Hunter Dickinson

Backups: Colin Castleton, Johns Jr.

If you’re not excited about the 7-foot-2-inch Hunter Dickinson, then you haven’t watched a second of his game.

Here’s what 247 sports Director of Basketball Scouting, Jerry Meyer, had to say about the recent Wolverine commit:

"Big body who can occupy space. Not an explosive athlete. Good basketball IQ and positional defender and rebounder. Effective in the high/low game. Knows how to seal his man and can also deliver a pass from the high post. Has reliable jump hook with his dominant left hand. Can make a face-up midrange shot. Should end up being a second-round draft choice."

His playstyle is nearly identical to Jon Teske, which means it will be like big Jon never left, and it will mean at least a few more years of paint domination for the boys in maize and blue.

Colin Castleton was being groomed to take over when Teske graduated, but with the commitment of the extremely talented Dickinson, Colin will have to take a back seat. As gifted as Colin is, however, he will likely move into the sixth man spot and provide significant minutes in critical games.

Johns, who is a bit undersized for C, has shown his ability to take over the paint, and not every Michigan opponent will have a 7-footer, meaning Juwan can go with the smaller Johns Jr.

In conclusion, here’s Michigan’s starting five for the 2020-21 college basketball season:

  1. David DeJulius
  2. Joshua Christopher
  3. Franz Wagner
  4. Isaiah Todd
  5. Hunter Dickinson
