Michigan Football: Everything you need to know about Ohio State
Special teams
Finally, something UM is better at – special teams. Will Hart averages more yards per punt than OSU’s Dru Chrisman and Demario McCall, the Buckeye kick returner, averages fewer yards per return than Giles Jackson.
Key to the game, score on special teams.
Another key to the game, make them punt. 34 times Dru has run onto the field and booted the pigskin, that’s 11 less than what Will Hart has endured. Maybe the experience will pay off?
Matt’s musings
The hype train is strong for the Wolverines and it was rolling with a full head of steam in the months leading up to the season opener. Major media outlets analyzed all the data points and picked UM to win all 12 regular-season games and the Big Ten Championship.
And then Wisconsin happened.
Luckily, by the second half of the initial disaster in State College, the offense, led by coordinator Josh Gattis, exploded as did Patterson in his back-to-back four-plus touchdown outings against Michigan State and Indiana.
Hopefully, the Wolverines can stave off the 6-foot-5, 270-pound Chase Young while running it down the throat of the NCAA’s best rush defense, and getting some touchdowns on the NCAA’s best scoring defense.
This will be Ohio State’s toughest road test, and, with the help of 110,000 plus screaming in the ears of the sophomore Justin Fields, the Wolverines might just pull it off if they recreate what we saw in the last four games.
