Dax Hill delivers on promise in first start

Brad Hawkins ended up not making the trip to Bloomington, which set the stage for Daxton Hill to get his first career start and the former five-star recruit lived up to the hype.

Hill ended up leading Michigan football in tackles with eight total but he also intercepted a pass in the first half and routinely made plays simply with his speed, a skill that could prove valuable against Ohio State next week.

It was interesting to see the way Michigan used him. He was a safety at times but also saw snaps in a cornerback position and that could be his role next week. It remains to be seen if Hawkins will return, but even if he does, Hill should be starting.

He’s one of the most talented players on this defense and the speed he adds, is a gamechanger. Against guys like Justin Fields and J.K. Dobbins, his tackling ability will be needed and in his first test as a starter, Hill passed with flying colors.
