Michigan Basketball: 3 predictions for Wolverines against Creighton
Michigan basketball will host Creighton as part of the Gavitt Games and here are three predictions for what should be a battle.
After a nervous win over Appalachian State last week, one in which Michigan basketball looked dominant at times and poor at times, the Wolverines face their first real test of the 2019-20 season as Creighton comes calling tonight.
Michigan basketball will host the Blue Jays out of the Big East as part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games between the Big Ten and Big East.
The first game of the series was Monday night between Depaul and Iowa, which the Hawkeyes lost by 15 points. Tonight, UM takes on Creighton and Minnesota will face Butler
While winning for the Big Ten is nice, the focus for the Wolverines is on themselves and a challenging opponent. UM is ranked No. 30 right now in the Kenpom rankings. Creighton is No. 31, so this will be anything but easy.
Greg McDermott has a veteran team with some talented scorers and it will be a challenge for the Wolverines, especially on the defensive end.
It’s still early but the Wolverines have the No. 17 defense according to Kenpom and the Blue Jays have the No. 12 offense, so it’s safe to say that will be a key battle to watch. Michigan then has to find enough scoring on the other end.
The team took more shots and played at a faster pace in the first game, so we’ll see if that continues and if it leads to a victory.
It’s hard to say what will happen, but we take a stab with three predictions.
