Michigan Football: 5 things we learned in Wolverines win over Maryland
Michigan football won its second road game of the year Saturday and kept its momentum moving forward. Here are five things we learned beating Maryland.
The Michigan football team didn’t come out and wow people against Maryland on Saturday in what ended up being a 38-7 win. But that doesn’t matter. A win is a win.
And overall, it’s hard to be disappointed in a 31-point victory, on the road, in conference play. Yes, the offense could have been more effective, but the defense was darn good.
Michigan only allowed a touchdown on a kickoff return and twice turned the Terps away in the red zone. Maryland barely went over 200 total yards, completed less than 50 percent of its passes and averaged 2.8 yards per rush.
Along with allowing zero points, getting four sacks and an interception, it was a very solid day for Don Brown’s defense.
From the opening kickoff when Giles Jackson returned the ball 97 yards for a touchdown, it just felt like Michigan’s day. There were times when things were less than perfect, but the Wolverines handled their business as 21-point favorites and now have a week off to prepare for Sparty.
The most important thing was that Michigan football looked the part. After trouncing Notre Dame by 31 last week, doing the same at Maryland was good for momentum.
This team is finding its mojo and it’s doing it at just the right time. But for a deeper look at the 38-7 defeat of Maryland, here are five things we learned.
