Michigan Football: 5 things we learned from loss at Penn State
Charbonnet shines again
One of the best things about the game against Penn State was the solid performance put together by freshman running back Zach Charbonnet.
After the terrible start, Michigan football was forced to throw the football more than it wanted to and that means that Charbonnet carried the ball just 15 times. Yet, he turned those attempts in 81 yards, which is 5.4 per attempt. He also found the end zone twice.
If there is a reason to have hope for the future of this offense, Charbonnet is it. He has been productive against just about every team this season and even when he’s not ripping off explosive runs, he’s getting positive yards.
His longest run was 14 yards last night, but at times, he was making incredible moves just to get positive yardage. If the offensive line can give him a little more daylight, the next five weeks are going to be fun, because Charbonnet is the real deal.
Now, the coaches just need to feed him the ball and make him the focal point of this offense.
