Michigan football has won two straight games but now the Wolverines will be back on the road. Here are five predictions for UM vs Illinois.

Over the last two weeks, Michigan football has started to restore some confidence with wins over Rutgers and Iowa. Now, the Wolverines need to prove they can play well on the road, something they haven’t done this season.

Their first and only road trip came at Wisconsin and we all know how that went. Of course, Wisconsin is a much, much better team than Illinois, but still, on the road, in conference play, anything can happen.

For Michigan football, the margin for error in the Big Ten is slim to none. It’s possible Ohio State could lose a game before the season-ending showdown, but I wouldn’t bet on it, meaning the Wolverines need to win out in conference play to have a shot in the Big Ten East.

If Michigan was to lose a game down the stretch, Notre Dame would be the best one, because unless UM wins out in the Big Ten, it’s not likely headed to Indianapolis.

While traveling to 2-3 Illinois, a team that has allowed more than 300 yards rushing in back-to-games, doesn’t sound intimidating, it feels like a trap game.

At the very least, it’s the kind of game that could turn into a struggle if Michigan football doesn’t give it the full attention it requires. It’s another early kickoff Saturday and here are five predictions.
