Michigan Football: 3 Wolverines who need to step up against Illinois
Nico Collins
There is no question that Nico Collins is one of the most talented players in the Big Ten and one of the most talented wideouts in the country, however, so far his production has been lacking.
Of course, there is plenty of blame to go around. The offensive system hasn’t worked as desired and Patterson has had his struggles with accuracy and finding open receivers.
At some point though, Collins and other Michigan receivers should be able to do a better job of getting open. Granted, Patterson does need to take some chances and throw up 50/50 balls when he gets a chance, as he did to Collins against Iowa, but still, we need to see more.
In five games this season, Collins hasn’t caught more than three passes and his biggest game was a 66-yard showing in the loss to the Badgers.
If the offense is going to click, Collins will need to be part of that process and so far, he hasn’t played up to his ability.
