The top ten teams

Later on, several players will appear on each slide; however, at the start, there is only one prospect in the top 50 who has narrowed his recruiting to ten schools and included the Wolverines. His name is Jaemyn Brakefield, and snagging him would immediately elevate Michigan to Big Ten Championship contention.

This kid is so good that Jerry Meyer from 247 sports compared him to Sam Dekker, the man who, for three years, terrorized John Beilein era squads. During Sam’s final season, he and the Badgers held a record of 36-4. That is the kind of record you can expect at Michigan if Brakefield takes the leap to Ann Arbor.

Jaemyn is ranked No. 38 in the nation and the No. 6 power forward. Those are rankings that aren’t handed out lightly, Brakefield earned those high marks with his incredible talent on both sides of the court.

And that incredible talent is in Ann Arbor this weekend, presumably to watch the Wolverines take on Iowa, but more importantly to sit down with Juwan Howard and allow the first time head coach an opportunity to sell himself.

Will he commit? Highly doubtful. But there’s a chance, and if he does, Michigan basketball will forever be changed.
