McGrone has to start at LB

Cameron McGrone was a four-star prospect when he committed to Michigan football and he was another player that was curious in his absence from the field.

Well, with the injury to Devin Gil, he got the start against Rutgers and his athleticism really stood out. Out of all the inside linebackers, no one seems to cover sideline-to-sideline quite like McGrone and he’s clearly the best replacement for Devin Bush on the roster.

Josh Ross is a solid player and he should be starting at one of the two linebacker spots inside. However, McGrone should be next to him and the fact that it takes an injury to see that is concerning.

There have been a lot of strange coaching decisions in terms of personnel from this staff. There seems to be a loyalty to players who have put in their time when it’s supposed to be a meritocracy.

If guys aren’t getting it done, changes need to be made and one guy that deserves a chance is McGrone. His speed and physicality will be much-needed Saturday vs Iowa.
