Michigan football: 3 Reasons why it’s so important to beat Wisconsin
Can Michigan still get to the Big Ten Championship?
Wisconsin appeared unstoppable against their first two opponents, and so did Ohio State. With the Buckeyes excelling in spite of losing their head coach and quarterback, “The Game” is going to be more difficult than what the oddsmakers initially thought.
Essentially, a loss in Wisconsin means the Wolverines must win out to earn their first trip to Indy.
Is it possible to punch a ticket with a loss this weekend? Absolutely, however, not likely. Both teams in the Championship last year had at least one loss in conference play, and Northwestern arrived at Lucas Oil Stadium with four total losses. Then again, the gauntlet is tougher for Michigan football moving forward. The Badgers aren’t the only ranked road team the Wolverines are pitted against as the 13th ranked Penn State will most likely be a night game against the backdrop of a massive white-out crowd.
This game marks a pivotal moment for the 2019 Michigan football team.
Nevertheless, a bid to the conference title game doesn’t guarantee a win especially if the Wolverines are pitted against Wisconsin again. And even if they manage to pull off the second game, recent history tells us, a one-loss Big Ten team is not a College Football Playoff team.
