Michigan basketball is getting very close to landing one of the top shooting guards in the country, Jaden Springer.

According to an Instagram post by Tipton Edits, Michigan basketball has made such an impression on Jaden Springer that the Wolverines were one of three teams still in the running for his services.

The post also made it clear that North Carolina and Florida were no longer in consideration, and Jaden canceled his scheduled visits to those schools. That’s excellent news for Michigan basketball as Jaden is one top shooting guards in the country.

247 sports ranked Springer fourth out of Florida, the third-ranked shooting guard, and the 15th ranked player in the country. The two other schools in contention with UM are Memphis and Tennesee. The Volunteers currently hold all eight crystal balls for the 2020 star.

Springer holds similar rankings according to Rivals. On their website, Jaden ranked third at his position and 14th in the nation. Unfortunately, Rivals also believes Tennessee is in Springer’s future.

Listed at 6-foot-6 and around 200 pounds, Jaden is physically ready to play college basketball and would be the top basketball player on the roster for the Wolverines if he chose Ann Arbor over Memphis and Knoxville.

Jerry Meyer, the Director of Basketball Scouting for 247 sports, projected Jaden as a future first-round NBA pick and compared the five-star to Nuggets guard Malik Beasley. Meyer also provided the following evaluation:

"Tremendous strength and build for a combo guard. Has average-to-good length. A power guard who is effective in traffic and plays through contact. Scores at all three levels. Great rebounder for a guard. Can also distribute, although scoring is his strength. Great potential defensively."

While Jaden’s social media accounts have revealed almost nothing, his mom has some kind words to say about UM.

"Jaden Springer and family would like to say THANK YOU to the entire Michigan staff and players. Michigan is a special place. God bless and Go Blue! ⁦@umichbball⁩ @JuwanHoward⁩ ⁦@PhilMartelli"

Michigan isn’t slacking on recruiting Springer either, as the coaches were in Florida yesterday along with staff from Texas, Auburn, and Ohio State.

"Huge thanks to all the college coaches who came to campus today. Hope to see you soon here at @imgacademy!"

Only time will tell if Jaden joins fellow 2020 guard and Michigan commit, Zeb Jackson. The pair would undoubtedly dominate the Big Ten as two of the top guards in the nation, both listed in 247 sports top 100 nationally.

With so many recruits dropping the Wolverines into their top five or ten and then snubbing them around commitment time, getting Jaden could be the turn around point for this Michigan basketball team on the recruiting trail. Springer could cause a domino effect, bringing with him a deluge of superstar talent.
