Michigan Football: Predicting the Wolverines starters against MTSU
Jim Harbaugh spoke in-depth this week about his roster ahead of the season opener against MTSU and here is our prediction for the starters.
Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh has never been a big fan of releasing depth charts and generally, it’s not something he has done with the Wolverines.
But this offseason, Harbaugh seems to be more open about his team. He also seems more confident and more assured. So when he spoke to the media this week, leading up to the season-opening game against Middle Tennessee State, he went in-depth about the roster and depth chart.
Certainly, there were some positions where he didn’t offer a starter. Offensively, running back is still a bit murky, along with wide receiver after the top couple of guys like Donovan Peoples-Jones and Nico Collins. Tarik Black and Ronnie Bell are also going to see plenty of time.
Freshmen such as Mike Sainristil, Giles Jackson, Cornelius Johnson and Erick All should contribute early as well. The offensive line is pretty much set and defensively, while there are a lot of moving parts, the two-deep is getting more settled.
But when it comes to the starting lineups on both sides of the ball, there could still be some surprises. Really on all three levels defensively a lot of guys are going to play. The defensive line goes about 10 deep. Linebackers and defensive backs are stellar too.
Nobody probably knows exactly what Harbaugh, Josh Gattis and Don Brown will do but heading into the battle with the Blue Raiders, here is our projected depth chart for Michigan football.
