Michigan football has now hit padded practices and after a nearly a week, here is a look at five freshmen that have already started to make an impression.

The countdown to the season-opening game for Michigan football is well underway. Today, we now have 24 days until the Wolverines kick things off against Middle Tennessee State and while that seems like a ways off still, we have some things to keep us occupied.

Obviously, there is nothing better than watching the Wolverines run out the tunnel and slap the banner on their way onto the field at the Big House, with Hail to the Victors blaring in the background.

Soon enough, each Michigan football fan will get to enjoy that again. Until then, however, the Wolverines still have a lot of preparation in the coming weeks as they hone their system and figure out their depth chart.

There may not be a ton of starting jobs available, yet, there are some spots where there are heated competitions and elsewhere, guys are just fighting to make the two-deep.

As far as freshmen are concerned, this is a critical time of year. If they enrolled early, they should have a leg up on the incoming guys, but either way, a strong fall camp is the key to earning playing time right away.

If guys don’t look ready now, they probably won’t be ready to play significant snaps by late August or early September. But judging by some of the info coming out of Michigan camp, some freshmen are making a case to play early and here are five that have stood out so far.
